Khuphuka Benefit and Bike Ride
January 10 - 11, 2009
On the weekend of January 10 - 11, 2009, SF Insight will be hosting a Benefit Event to raise money for the Khuphuka Project (a new AIDS service program in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa, a sister project of Woza Moya). The event will begin at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 10th at the UU Church, 1187 Franklin St. (at Geary), in the Starr King Room. From 1:00 to 5:30 there will be a half-day long, including periods of sitting and walking meditation with a focus on Community, Sangha, and Kalyana Mitta. From 5:30 to 9:00, there will be a community vegetarian potluck, silent auction, sale of our new Sangha cookbook (cash or check, no credit cards), entertainment, and dancing. All sangha members and their family/friends are invited to participate in either the afternoon or evening programs or both.
On Sunday, January 11th, the Benefit Event will continue with a fundraising Bike Ride of the Tiburon Loop. Participants can either begin at 9:30 am at Sports Basement in the Presidio or at 10:15 am at Mike’s Bikes in Sausalito. Both groups will meet for a short dharma talk and gathering in Tiburon before the ride home. Cyclists are required to raise a minimum of $50 in donations.
All proceeds raised at this two-day event will go to support the start-up of the Khuphuka Project. Registration fee for the Saturday half-day long and/or evening will be $10. To register, send a check made out to SF Insight (with "January 10th Benefit" on the memo line) to: SF Insight, P.O. Box 475536, San Francisco, CA 94147. You can also pay at the door on January 10th.
